MANITOUWADGE—The Manitouwadge Fire Department is challenging every home in Manitouwadge to have a home fire escape plan, to practice that plan and share it with the fire department for a chance to win prizes.
The township Fire department recently posted a notice informing residents of their "Home Fire Escape Plan Challenge".
Those wishing to participate in this challenge are asked to follow the following guidelines:
- Pick up your home fire escape tip sheet at the town office front reception, sent home from school or in July’s Boreal.
- On the back of the tip sheet (or your own) draw a floor plan of your home and show two ways out of every room.
- Plan out and record your full home fire escape plan.
- Email your name and address to fire_education@manitouwadge.ca by July 24th, 2022 to register your plan for the challenge.
- Practice your plan!
Each participating home will be provided with an approximate time on Saturday August 20th, 2022 for the Manitouwadge Fire Department representative to observe and review your plan with your family.
Above all, for the Manitouwadge Fire Department, the most important message behind all of this is to, “Please remember every second does count in a real emergency but this challenge is not a race, we want everyone to demonstrate their home fire escape plans safely and every home that participates will be entered into a random participation draw.”
