ENGLISH RIVER – A fatal collision between a commercial motor vehicle and a pedestrian has closed part of Hwy 17.
At approximately 10:14 a.m. Thursday, members of the Ignace, Dryden, Shabaqua and Thunder Bay OPP, along with fire and EMS services, responded to a call on the highway between Hwy 599 and Shabaqua Corners.
The collision scene, located just five kilometres west of English River, has been closed while police investigate.
OPP indicate that one person is deceased, and their investigation continues.
The Ontario Provincial Police is asking drivers to use Highway 11 in the meantime.
Drivers are also asked to be cautious as they approach the road closure barricades, as there are officers from multiple OPP detachments in the area.
