THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Coun. Brian Hamilton has been re-elected chair of the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board and O'Connor Mayor Jim Vezina has been elected vice-chair.
This will be Hamilton’s second term as chair of the board, with Vezina taking over for Manitouwadge Mayor Jim Moffatt.
Hamilton has represented the City of Thunder Bay on the DSSAB since 2019 and Vezina joined in 2023 as a representative for the Township of O’Connor.
Hamilton said he is honoured to be reaffirmed as chair of the board.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such a dedicated leadership team,” he said in a news release. “Together, and with care, we will continue to collaborate with our partners, advance our strategic plan and serve the district in the fast-changing and dynamic social services sector.”
Thunder Bay DSSAB chief executive officer, Ken Ranta said the board leadership is at the forefront of the agency’s advocacy and strategic initiatives.
“I know we’re in good hands with this pair, and look forward to kicking off 2025 under their leadership,” said Ranta.
The DSSAB board of directors consists of 14 members, who are elected officials, representing municipal jurisdictions within the District of Thunder Bay.
