GREENSTONE--The Municipality of Greenstone is hosting a Mobile Live Training Unit from the Ontario Fire College from July 15-17, 2022.

It informed residents about this event in their recent notice, indicating that the training will be situated at the Municipal Administration Office in Geraldton. This will be used for training by the Greenstone Fire & Emergency services.

These units are designed to travel to Municipalities that do not have access to safe, reliable Live Fire Training props and are provided free of charge.

In addition, the municipality described the purpose of this training unit, stating that, “This unit will help our firefighters train in basement fires, suppression tactics, search and rescue, forcible entry, roof ventilation and exterior operations on the fire ground.”

This training will facilitate the completion of multiple National Fire Protection Association Standard for fire fighter professional qualification skills, by the volunteer firefighters.

The municipality also indicated that, this is significant training for all Greenstone Firefighters, especially those from Stations 2 and 5, who perform interior firefighting as per the Establish and Regulating By-law (22-08).

The municipality welcomes residents to stop by and observe the training, but they are asked to do so at a safe distance, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. between July 15 and July 17; the dates when this training will take place.
