Four teens arrested for assault in Fort Hope

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service arrested four teens following a reported assault in Fort Hope First Nation.

FORT HOPE – Nishnawbe Aski Police Service is reporting that officers in Fort Hope First Nation responded to an assault in the area of Albany River Crescent in the early morning of July 8.

During the investigation, officers found two victims – an adult and a youth – who had been approached by a group of youth suspects. The suspects drew their weapons and attempted to stab the two victims.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

NAPS identified three suspects and located them that same morning, placing them under arrest.

A fourth suspect was located and arrested on July 9.

As a result, a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 17-year-old were charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The 13-year-old and a 15-year-old had an additional charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

The names of the accused are withheld under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
