Former Red Rock mayor recognized with special award

Former Mayor Greg Nelson, was awarded the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for his selfless dedication and contributions to his municipality.

RED ROCK— The Municipality of Red Rock announced their recognition of a deserving volunteer, from their community.

During last week’s council meeting, Mayor Robinson presented former Mayor Gary Nelson with the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for 50 years of volunteer service within the community of Red Rock.

Nelson also received a certificate and letter from MPP Michael Gravelle, for his dedication to his community. Over the years, the former mayor, not only served as Red Rock mayor, but has been involved with the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Teen Town, the Beautification Committee and many more community events and committees.

He was described by council as “always ready and eager to lend a helping hand.”

Gary Nelson was congratulated by Red Rock council, his community and provincial government, for this amazing milestone. Congratulations were extended to this well-deserved to dedicated individual.
