Five arrested for numerous drug offences

After issuing warrants in Geraldton, five individuals have been arrested and charged with various drug offences.

GREENSTONE — In a combined effort provincial police and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, five local residents have been arrested and charged with numerous offences.

On Wednesday, both police forces issued five search warrants on five unsuspecting individuals. As a result of their investigation, officers confiscated suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. Canadian currency, other items associated with drug trafficking, and one motor vehicle were also seized. 

Among the arrested was a 30-year-old who was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamines, two counts of failure to comply with a probation order, possession of proceeds of crime under $,5000, and possession of a weapon.

A 25-year-old was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

A 28-year-old was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.

A 52-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine.

A 48-year-old was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the court for a bail hearing at a later date.
