Fire permits required as fire season starts April 1

Although the region has received so much snowfall this winter, and fire permits may be the last thing on people's minds, the residents of Horneypayne were reminded of the fact that fire permits are needed for burning of any kind within town limits. Fire season begins April 1, and residents are being offered free fire permits by their municipality.

HORNEPAYNE—There may still be a lot of snow covering most of Northern Ontario, but with fire season starting on April 1, 2022, the public needs to remember fire permits are required.

The public was reminded by the municipality of Hornepayne, that fire permits are required for any type of burning within town limits from April 1, to Oct. 31, 2022. The township is offering these fire permits at not charge.

As a safety highlight, they ask residents to be mindful that exposed dry leaves, grass and twigs pose a fire hazard in the Spring, especially under hot, sunny, windy conditions.

You can apply for a fire permit on the township's website.

It is important to remember to put fire safety first in all your plans when outdoors enjoying a campfire. Find out ways to prevent fires!
