OTTAWA -- Greesntone's Mayor Renald Beaulieu has attended his final Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.
Beaulieu will not be seeking re-election in the municipal election, which is scheduled for October.
During the conference, he seized the occasion to meet with Ministry of Finance Assistant Stephan Crawford to discuss insurance rates, a key issue for the municipality.
The mayor said, in an interview with CFNO earlier this week, that it's a cry for help in seeing what can be done by the province to help reduce insurance rates.
These actions are what he is going to miss about local politics.
"Being involved and knowing what's going on in our community, trying to do what you can and finding ways to be able to make things happen," he said.
The deadline to register for the upcoming Oct. 24 municipal elections is Friday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m.
