THUNDER BAY – Confederation College celebrated the grand opening of its Greenstone Campus in Longlac on Friday.
The campus was opened in December of 2019, after the college moved from a previous location in Geraldton, but a grand opening event was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new location, at 98 Indian Road in Longlac, is one of seven regional campuses the college maintains in addition to its main campus in Thunder Bay.
“The new location of the campus will serve the Greenstone area well,” said Brad Halabisky, director of distance and continuing education and eastern campuses. “It’s important to make education accessible to all and we believe this location will support this access.”
The Greenstone campus offers diploma and certificate programs, as well as continuing education and training courses. Applications are currently being accepted for 2023 academic programming.
Vice president academic, Richard Gemmill was set to host the college’s annual Report to Community in Longlac on Friday on behalf of president Kathleen Lynch.
“I am excited to see the new location and speak with community members about their needs,” Gemmill said. “Hearing from community members is important. This is our annual opportunity to host a community event and our first in-person visit to Greenstone since launching our strategic plan.”
