NIPIGON — Ontario Provincial Police say charges are pending in connection with a collision Tuesday on Highway 17 near Pays Plat First Nation.
Three people were injured in the incident, which forced the closure of the highway for much of the day.
OPP initially believed a passenger car and two transport trucks were involved in the collision, but they later determined only a passenger vehicle and one transport truck were directly involved.
The male driver of the car was airlifted to Thunder Bay with what police described as non-life-altering injuries, while a female passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Terrace Bay.
A male passenger in the transport truck was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
According to police, investigators have determined the passenger vehicle was proceeding downhill when it crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the front driver's side of the transport truck.
They also learned the 29-year-old driver of the car, who's from the Timmins area, had a suspended licence.
Details of the charges have not yet been released.
