Charges laid after vehicle plunges into Aguasabon River

A pickup truck ended up overturned in the water

TERRACE BAY — An incident on the weekend that saw a vehicle plunge into the Aguasabon River near Terrace Bay has led to several charges against an area resident.

Provincial police local fire departments, and paramedics all responded early Saturday afternoon to a single motor vehicle collision that left a pickup truck on its side in the water.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which forced the temporary closure of Highway 17.

As a result of the collision, a 46-year-old man from Terrace Bay was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with careless driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, and public mischief.

He was released from custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on the charges next month.
