Blueberry Blast returns this weekend

The festival provides a variety of services and entertainment over the weekend including live music, vendors with many blueberry-themed foods and products, guided berry picking, draws, and more.

NIPIGON —Nipigon’s favourite August event is back again this weekend. 

The Blueberry Blast was origanlly founded in 2002, and has been a staple of summer activities for the community ever since. 

The festival provides a variety of services and entertainment over the weekend including live music, vendors with many blueberry-themed foods and products, guided berry picking, draws, and more. 

The fun begins on Friday evening with the Blueberry Blast dance taking place at the Nipigon Legion from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

Saturday’s events start with a pancake breakfast presented by Grace United Church, followed by vendors and live entertainment consisting of Shy-Anne Hovorka, The Boondocks, and the 11/17 Band. 

Sunday’s event includes even more entertainers like Don Wright, Jim n’ I, the Punjabi Dance Group, the Dorion Band, and Rebel Spirit. 

The Blueberry Blast is organized and run by a central committee and aided by local volunteers and entrance to the festival is completely free and all residents from the area are invited to attend.
