A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the conviction of the person responsible for the suspected hit-and-run death of Loni Chum in Moose Factory in November 2023.

MOOSE FACTORY - A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the suspected hit-and-run death of a young woman in Moose Factory.

Loni Chum was found dead on Nov. 7, 2023 on Jaban Street in Moose Factory, a remote island community in Northern Ontario that's across the river from Moosonee. Police believe the 21-year-old was hit by a pick-up truck around 3 a.m. that day.

James Bay OPP and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) are leading the investigation into Chum's death. 

Since it happened, they have renewed appeals for information. Today (Aug. 19) it was announced that the Government of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for her death.
