The search is over for a missing 14-year-old drowning victim near Lake Superior State Campground Wednesday afternoon.

The campground is located just west of Deer Park in northern Luce County in Michigan.

The Michigan State Police said its dive team recovered the victim late Thursday afternoon.

The 14-year old was swimming with a 15-year-old in Lake Superior when an undertow took the two into deeper water.

First responders say the 15-year-old was able to make it to shallow water, but the 14-year-old was taken farther from shore.

Four to five-foot waves with winds out of the north were reported at the time.

The Coast Guard, Luce County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police Dive and Drone Team and Michigan DNR conservation officers all helped in the search.
