SAH provides primary, secondary and select tertiary services to residents in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma. In addition to providing core services in Emergency and Critical Care; Medicine; Surgery; Obstetrics, Maternity and Pediatrics; Mental Health and Addictions; Complex Continuing Care; and Rehabilitation, SAH is also home to the Algoma Regional Renal Program and the Algoma District Cancer Program including radiation therapy services. Reporting to the Vice President Clinical Operations, The Director, Clinical Programs, Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) will provide strategic and operational leadership for the MHA program across the hospital and community sites. This role is critical in aligning the MHA program with the organization's strategic goals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture, and ensuring high-quality, evidence-based patient care. The Director, Clinical Programs will be instrumental in driving program growth, managing resources effectively, and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders.

Strategic Planning:
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Mental Health and Addictions program that aligns with the organization’s overall strategic vision.
• Create business cases for new initiatives and integrate research and best practices.
• Coordinate planning internally and externally, ensuring alignment with regional and provincial initiatives.
Human and Financial Resource Management
• Develop and manage a human resource plan, including recruitment, staff development and performance management
• Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and capital equipment processes, ensuring cost effective and efficient use of resources
Relationships and Partnerships
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with the leadership team and seek input from key stakeholders and community partners
• Represent the hospital in regional and provincial forums

Quality Improvement and Risk Management
• Ensure the program’s priorities focus on quality patient care and are based on best practices
• Monitor performances indicators, patient concerns and safety incidents and implement improvement plans
• Support quality review processes and risk management strategies.


Qualifications:

• Degree in Health or Social Sciences, or a related field
• Regulated Health Professional with certification in good standing from a respective regulatory body
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in an acute care/hospital setting
• Recent applicable experience in Mental Health and Addictions programs, with strong understanding of the relevant legislation and evidence based practices
• Strong communication skills
• Experience in setting goals, making decisions, and managing resources to achieve organizational objectives
• Ability to drive quality, safety, financial and operational improvements and link operational work to strategic business directions
