GREENSTONE, ON — Ontario Provincial Police have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer after a single-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon that forced the closure of Highway 11.

The unit went out of control and overturned on the roadway about two kilometres east of Rocky Bay First Nation, spilling its cargo of lumber and completely blocking both lanes.

Firefighters and paramedics from Beardmore responded to the collision, along with officers from the Nipigon and Greenstone OPP detachments.

After an investigation, police charged a 31-year-old resident of Edmonton with careless driving.

The highway was fully reopened at around midnight.
