FORT FRANCES — Police have concluded a three-month-long investigation into the illicit sale of controlled drugs and substances in Couchiching First Nation and the surrounding area.
The Treaty Three Police Service and Northwest Regions’ OPP conducted a search warrant on Tuesday at a residence on Couchiching First Nation, seizing cocaine, crack cocaine, roughly $5,000 in Canadian Currency and other items associated with trafficking illicit substances.
As a result of the investigation, four individuals were arrested and three formally charged: a 59-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman from Couchiching First Nation, as well as a 34-year-old man from Seine River First Nation.
The three individuals face charges for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.
While all individuals have been released from custody, the three charged individuals were placed on several conditions and have a court date in April.
