Severe thunderstorms could be on the way for some portions of the Superior North region, with a risk of tornadoes and the potential for large hail.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a vast area on Thursday, including Nakina, Aroland, Eabametoong and Neskantaga, and spanning farther into northeastern Ontario.
"Thunderstorms are expected to develop [Thursday] afternoon and track southeastward through the evening," the advisory cautions. "Strong wind gusts and hail will be the primary hazards, however, a tornado cannot be ruled out. The risk of severe weather will diminish through the evening."
Wind gusts could reach 90 kilometres per hour, and large hail is also possible.
