OPP to host info session in Terrace Bay

TERRACE BAY — If you want to learn more about what a career in law enforcement would be like, look no further.

For those living in or near Terrace Bay, the Ontario Provincial Police is hosting an ‘info session’ at the Terrace Bay Community Centre on Jan. 24, starting at 1 p.m.

Constable Matt Foster said although these ‘info sessions’ happen semi-regularly, this is the first time he has ever seen one hosted in Terrace Bay.

He said the event name could be a bit unintentionally misleading.

“It’s called an information session but it’s a recruitment session. So, essentially, OPP recruiters will be there – also, recruiters from our Provincial Communications Centre – to talk about all things recruitment with the OPP,” Foster said.

However, fear not prospective law enforcers reading this article, if you can’t make it to this information session Foster said the OPP is hiring “all the time.”

That being said, he encouraged anyone interested in getting involved to attend this session.

“Recruiters will be there to talk to people from Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Marathon, wherever you want to come from. Our recruiters are there to answer all of the questions that you have. There’s going to be some little knick-knacks and merchandise that you can take away as well. We hope to see you there,” he said.

While it may not be Coffee with a Cop, the promise of questions answered for those curious about law enforcement, the opportunity to connect with regional officers, and free knick-knacks are sure to entice people.

There is no registration required to attend the session.

Foster was adamant that this session is just an opportunity waiting to be seized.

“There’s no better time to apply to the OPP than right now.”
