Off-duty officer saves man suffering from cardiac arrest

MARATHON – According to OPP Northwest Region, Sergeant Philbin witnessed a man suffering from a cardiac arrest.

On the morning of May 6, the off-duty officer rushed to help and immediately started CPR.

Detachment Commander, Staff Sergeant John Reppard said: “It was extremely fortunate to have Sgt. Philbin in the right place, at the right time to assist in saving this man’s life. I am immensely proud of Sgt. Philbin’s actions and thrilled to hear that the individual has made a full recovery.”

OPP Northwest Region stated in a release that Sgt. Philbin visited the man and his wife.

They told Philbin the doctor said without his help, the man wouldn’t have survived.
