NIPIGON – Provincial police in Nipigon say an arrest was made after officers observed a motor vehicle that appeared to avoid a RIDE checkpoint.
Police say the incident happened on Sunday within the town.
Police found the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, a 23-year-old from Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in a Nipigon courtroom next month.
In a news release, the OPP said they remain committed to taking impaired drivers off the road through enforcement and public education. People are encouraged to call 911 if suspect anyone is driving while impaired.
