Nipigon man charged after Highway 11/17 collision

THUNDER BAY — A collision that resulted in injuries to a motorist and closed Highway 11/17 east of Thunder Bay on Monday night has led to charges being laid by the OPP.

Police responded at about 9 p.m. to an incident involving a transport truck and a pickup truck, just east of Road 5 North in the Pearl area.

Shuniah Fire & Emergency Services personnel were also deployed, and reported that debris and fuel were spilled onto the highway.

According to OPP, a 29-year-old resident of Nipigon who was driving the pickup truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

This individual is now charged with careless driving and with driving while under suspension.
