MARATHON — The town's next fire chief will start the job later this summer.

Town of Marathon officials announced last week that Scott Trach has been hired as the community's fire chief.

Trach is currently the fire chief for the Oxdrift Volunteer Fire Department, and has 28 years of fire service experience.

Trach replaces former fire chief Earl Grigg, who left for a job in Kirkland Lake.

The new fire chief's first day is expected to be Aug. 8.
