MANITOUWADGE — Residents are being forewarned not to use water during certain times later this month.
The Ontario Clean Water Agency will be swabbing the towns water-mains as part of preventative maintenance to remove any sediment that has built up inside the water-main and to inspect for areas of potential concern if any according to the notice the town released on Tuesday.
“It is important to not use your water while the swabbing is in progress,” the release read. “It is important to remember that if you use your water during the swabbing process and experience plumbing issues, the potential costs are at the homeowners expense.”
Residents are advised to turn off their water supplies where it enters their homes, if possible, stock up on drinking water, keep a supply of water handy to allow for the flushing of toilets and to turn off the power to hot water tanks to avoid potential damage.
The water disruption is planned to occur from 10 p.m. every night until 6 a.m. the next day from Sept. 25 to 28, with work expected to be completed by 6 a.m. on Sept. 29.
The town said that work will only occur if the weather permits and that should inclement weather cause a delay, the swabbing will be rescheduled for the following business day.
Once the swabbing process has been completed, the water may be turned back on and flushed through the first cold-water tap in your system. The town advises residents to remember to remove the aerator from this faucet while flushing.
If residents have any questions or concerns, or if they require further information, they are advised to contact the public works department at (807) 826-3227 ext. 230
