MANITOUWADGE—Schneica is a “sweet young girl who lives with her mother and two brothers in Haiti. She is the newest addition to Manitouwadge High School’s Wolverine family. The school decided to sponsor her in an effort to help provide her with an education; something members of the student body, indicated they often take for granted.
They offered a short update of this young girl who lives in a small one-room house in Port-au-Prince. Her mother works hard as a market seller to earn a small income, often finding it difficult to provide for the family’s basic needs. Their daily life is described as, “a struggle for this family.”
Schneica is a happy, shy, child who loves to engage in typical activities for a young child. She enjoys playing with dolls and her friends, and while home with her family, student council shared that, “She helps her parents by washing dishes. Her favourite subject in school is French and her favourite color is orange. When she grows up, she would like to become a doctor.”
They continue to encourage the student body at their school to remember to donate $1 a month, to continue their fundraising which has a goal of $500. Attaining this goal will ensure that they can continue their sponsorship of this child and her aspiration to gain a good education.
