WAWA — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending investigators after a crash at the Wawa airport.
The plane, a Mitsubishi MU-2 aircraft registered to Thunder Airlines, was involved in a landing accident at the Wawa Municipal Airport on Monday morning, the transportation board said in a news release.
A spokesperson said there was extensive damage to the airplane.
The safety board has deployed investigators to the site to collect information, gather data and assess the occurrence.
Nobody was injured in the incident, Rebecca Weatherall, assistant director of infrastructure services for the Municipality of Wawa, told Soo Today.
Weatherall said the airstrip is likely to be out of commission until at least 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
“It’s likely to be extended,” she noted.
