Hospital 50/50 draw sets new record, nears $2.54 million

THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay 50/50 jackpot has soared to new heights in December.

With nine days to go before the grand prize is awarded, the pot is now the largest in the 34-month history of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation draw, sitting at $2,539,585 as of Wednesday morning.

That's more than $9,000 more than last year's record-setting December draw total of $2,530,500.

“We were amazed when we called the Pace family last December to tell them they had won $2.53-million,” said Glenn Craig, President and CEO of the Health Sciences Foundation.

“We never thought we’d be making the winning call this year with news of an even higher grand prize. We can’t wait!”

There are still three early bird prizes up for grabs, a $10,000 draw and two $25,000 draws.

Tickets are available online at www.thunderbay5050.ca or at the Christmas 50/50 adjacent to the food court at Intercity Shopping Centre. Tickets remain on sale through Dec. 28 at 11:59 p.m.

Ticket-buyers must be in Ontario at the time of purchase.
