Driver charged for travelling 53 km/h over the speed limit

OPP stopped a car being driven at 133 km/h in an 80 km/zone in the Marathon area (OPP)

MARATHON — Ontario Provincial Police charged a motorist with stunt driving after an incident Monday in the Marathon area.

Police said they tracked a car travelling at 133 km/h on Highway 627.

The speed limit on the highway is 80 km/h.

A 33-year-old resident of Heron Bay lost driving privileges for 30 days and the use of the vehicle for 14 days while it's impounded.

The charge has not been tested yet in court, but a conviction for stunt driving carries a fine of at least $2,000.

Police have not released the name of the accused.
