City man charged after vehicle hits rock cut

THUNDER BAY — A 33-year-old city man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when his vehicle struck a rock cut on Highway 527 over the holiday weekend.

OPP say an officer came upon the collision site while on patrol at 7 a.m. Sunday.

He spotted a damaged vehicle at the side of the highway and located an injured person nearby.

Paramedics took the motorist to hospital for treatment.

The man faces several criminal charges including impaired driving, careless driving and driving with an open container of liquor in a vehicle.

He has also lost his driving privileges for 90 days, and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.
