Charge laid after driver caught going 60 km/h over speed limit

NIPIGON — Provincial police stopped a vehicle travelling nearly 60 kilometres over the speed limit just outside Nipigon earlier this week.

Police said officers were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 11/17 near Nipigon on Thursday afternoon, when a vehicle was recorded going 149 kilometres per hour.

Officers stopped the vehicle and charged the driver, a 54-year-old from Geraldton.

The driver is charged with stunt driving and was issued a 30-day driver's licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
