ATV driver charged for impaired following a collision

GREENSTONE – A Geraldton ATV operator faces charges after allegedly failing to stop after an accident.

In the early evening of Dec. 8, Greenstone OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision at a restaurant located on Third Avenue Northeast in the town of Geraldton.

Upon arrival, officers found that the operator of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) fled the scene after driving erratically and colliding with a parked vehicle.

Officers found the driver of the ATV a short time later, where they determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, a 35-year-old from Geraldton has been arrested and charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, driving a motor vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, and failure to apply for a permit to become an owner of the vehicle.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on Jan. 11.
