Nishnawbe Aski police have arrested and charged two men in connection to a reported home invasion.

AROLAND — Nishnawbe Aski police in Aroland First Nation have arrested and charged two men after a reported break-in in the community where the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted.

According to the press release issued by police on Friday, officers were called to a home during the afternoon of Jan. 28 for a report of a break-and-enter and destruction of property. Earlier in the day, two masked men allegedly had forced their way into the home, attacked and sexually assaulted a male resident, and destroyed his property.

Two days later, police said they arrested two men from Aroland.

A 45 year-old man and a 22 year-old man were each charged with sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, break-and-enter, wearing a disguise to commit a crime and mischief under $5,000.

They appeared in bail court on Friday, police said, and remain in custody with future scheduled court dates.

Police said that they’re continuing to investigate.
