From Marathon, Rick Dumas was elected mayor there in 2006 after years on town council. He’s also run a number of businesses. “I’ve done a great job for our municipality, and I think I can do a great job for Thunder Bay-Superior North,” he told Newswatch.

Brian Hamilton

Currently in his second term as a Thunder Bay city councillor, Brian Hamilton has also run a popular local coffee shop for years. He has told Newswatch that he calls himself a pro-business candidate who will help fight the challenges facing small businesses.

A previous candidate for the Green Party, John Northey has degrees in statistics and economics from the University of Guelph and has worked as a computer programmer. He has cited improvements to health care and education among his priorities.

Katherine Suutari is running for the New Blue Party for the second time. She also ran for Thunder Bay city council in 2022. In her previous run for provincial office, she called for healthcare and education reforms, particularly around making it easier for parents to home-school.

Lise Vaugeois has been the Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP since 2022, holding opposition critic roles when the legislature was in session. She’s also an academic and classical musician. She has cited highway safety, healthcare funding, and First Nations health concerns among priorities.
